Reiki Class now available!  See Resources....

Newly re-attuned to Master-Teacher level Reiki III, Douglas now offers Reiki as a separate modality healing treatment.  Additionally, you can now become attuned as a Reiki practitioner to work on family and friends or in your practice if you have one.

Whether you're coming to Douglas for an individual massage or myofascial release treatment, a continuing education class or private consultation, you will be treated gently, with patience and understanding. He brings life experience, compassion and skill to his client sessions along with the ability to "listen deeply" to the body / mind / spirit; thus, he creates a healing space for all he works with. His primary modality is Myofascial Release Therapy, but he is also trained in other techniques including CranioSacral therapy, Therapeutic Touch, Reiki and Swedish Massage. He has also studied and used active listening, role play and visualization in personal growth groups and professional seminars as well as in his work with children, youth, and college  students. For further information on myofascial release therapy, explore our Resources.

Myofascial Release Therapy has been Douglas' treatment specialty since 1999 when graduated from the Universal College of Healing Arts where he now teaches MFR classes.  Altogether, he has over two hundred hours in MFR training plus hundreds of hours of consultation.  He now facilitates several different Myofascial Release Therapy Seminars in locations around the Midwest.

Douglas has been a college English teacher all of his adult life, was also a home daycare provider and stay at home dad for 13 years, and has now devoted himself full time to massage and Myofascial Release Therapy as his "passion in life." Douglas came to massage therapy out of a need for deep healing in his life, which he now gladly shares with everyone he meets. He is married and has four grown children and six grandchildren.

He earned a Masters in English from Utah State University in 1969 and graduated from the Universal College of Healing Arts of Omaha, NE as a massage therapist in 1999. He is a licensed Massage Therapist in Nebraska, is certified by the NCBTMB nationally, and is a member of the International Massage Association. He now teaches massage and other classes at the Universal College of Healing Arts and Myofascial Release Therapy Seminars as CE training for massage therapists throughout the Midwest. He has also developed a series of Massage and Wellness classes for the general public, taught through Metropolitan Community College Continuing Education in Omaha, NE.

Whether you need Myofascial Release Therapy, another form of massage therapy, or a class, contact Douglas to help you learn to become your own healer and "Remember Your Wholeness."

Continuing Education:

Myofascial Release Therapy Seminars: Douglas offers frequent workshops for Licensed Massage Therapists and other bodywork professionals throughout the Midwest region. He has been an educator for 40 years and brings a passionate and creative approach to teaching these profound skills. His students have been consistently enthusiastic about the quality of the seminars and the ease with which they have incorporated the techniques into their practice, often with dramatic results. He is sometimes assisted by his wife Krissa or additional teaching assistants if needed to maintain quality supervision for the extensive hands-on practice sessions in each seminar. Participants often report personal healing experiences from these practice sessions or instructor demos.

State And National CE Hours: These seminars have been consistently approved for hands-on CE credit in both Nebraska and Iowa for several years. They also meet stated criteria for CE Hours in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Missouri. Other states, as they develop standards, will be applied to as well.  Application to the NCBTMB has been made; we will post the outcome as soon as it is available.  These seminars are applicable to many other certification standards as well.

Consultation: Douglas is available by appointment for mentoring with bodywork students or professionals desiring hands-on training in myofascial release therapy. This can be provided through work on the student with commentary, through 4-hand treatment of a second student or client, or through supervising the student's treatment of another client.
